Team CSC - The Journey Begins

Following his signing with Team CSC, Luke now heads to Denmark for the annual team building camp and to meet his new team-mates, where he has declared he is 'ready for anything!.'  Team CSC caught up with Luke recently and asked him a few questions about his ambitions and expectations for the coming season.   To read the full interview, follow this link to the Team CSC website,.

64th Zesdaagse Van Vlaanderen-Gent - 6D

Luke teamed up with German Lars Teutenberg for his final race of the season at Gent in Belgium.  The pair finished in 6rh place, taking several victories in separate events - including the derny, elimination and time trial - over the course of the six days.  Full results can be found as per usual at Cyclingnews,

Luke Roberts signs with Team CSC!

Luke Roberts has signed with Danish Team CSC for 2005.  ”I couldn't wish for a better team. Luke rode with Denmark's Jimmi Madsen in the second of his 6 day races.  For results, visit cyclingnews.com.  Luke's final race of the season will be an all Aussie affair with Scott McGrory at Gent from November 23rd.

Australian Cyclist of the Year Awards

The finalists in the Shimano 2004 Australian Cyclist of the Year Awards have been named.   Following his successful performances in the World Champs and Athens Olympics, Luke Roberts has been nominated for the 'Male Track Cyclist of the Year', which he won in 2003.  Nominated alongside him are fellow team pursuiter Graeme Brown and Ryan Bayley.   The awards will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, on Friday November 26th.

63rd Dortmund Six day - Germany (Oct 28 - Nov 02)

October 23rd  2004

Suntour Wrap-up

After 11 days and 13 stages of racing, Luke finished in 10th place in overall GC in the Herald Sun Tour In Victoria.  Riding for the Latrobe City team, Luke rode consistently throughout the tour, with 2 podium finishes, and placing in the top 7 for more than half the stages.  He also finished second in KOM.

 Unfortunately, a puncture in the penultimate stage of Mt Baw Baw effectively ended Luke's hopes of winning the Suntour, in which both he and his father Wayne have previously finished runner up.

2004 World Championships

The Australian elite men's road cycling team for the 2004 World Championships in Verona, Italy,  has officially been announced by Cycling Australia.  The team will comprise:

Bradley McGee (Time trial only)
Stuart O'Grady
Dave McPartland
Luke Roberts
Michael Rogers (road race & time trial)
Matt White

The men's road race of 265.5 km (18 laps of 14.75 km) will be held on Sunday 3rd October at 10am (or 6pm AEST!).  Click below to visit the official website of the 2004 UCI World Road Championships.

This will be Luke's final major competition before heading back to Australia, to race in the Herald Sun Tour, in which he finished 2nd in 2003.

39th Internationale Rheinland-Pfalz Rundfahrt

After the fifth and final stage of the International Tour of Rheinland-Pfalz, set amongst the hills in southwestern Germany, Luke finished in 9th place overall.  A fantastic result, especially given the depth of the field, with several Division 1 teams participating.  Click here for results
